*Event Emcee: Eduardo Santiago.

Ready to encourage and promote the craft of writing, the always enthusiastic Eduardo Santiago sets the inspiring tone and pace for our event.  

Mr. Santiago teaches creative writing for UCLA Extension and is the founder and curator of the Idyllwild Authors Series. In addition he is the facilitator for the very popular book-start intensive  "Idyllwild Writing Retreat".

He is a two-time PEN Emerging Voices Fellow (2004 and 2010). His first novel Tomorrow They Will Kiss (Little Brown and Co.), took Best Historical Novel and Best First Book honors at the International Latino Book Awards and was a finalist for the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction. His second novel, Midnight Rumba , was published in 2012. His shorter works of fiction and nonfiction have appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The AdvocateOut Traveler, One For The Table, The Platte. 

Eduardo Santiago was born in Cuba and grew up in Los Angeles and Miami. He holds a BFA from the California Institute of the Arts and an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University.

*Special Guest Reader: Darci Daniels

A favorite guest of the Palm Springs Writers Guild, Darci Daniels is a spectacularly talented artist with a glamorous vocal versatility. Her relaxed, easy style will capture your immediate attention and  have you  listening from start to finish.  

A concert artist, Darci has been the opening act for many top names, her favorite being Mel Torme.  Darci is an award winning stage actress for her portrayal as the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella for the Coronado Playhouse.  She has also received critical acclaim for her roles as Eliza Doolittle for Regional Theater and Polly Peachum for the Desert Opera Guild.  

Darci Daniels has her own star on the Palm Springs Walk of Fame and recently appeared in The Purple Room in Palm Springs. Darci has been a main showroom act for many years, including at the House of Blues, Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
