You have a website, Twitter, Facebook, and your author bios on Amazon, Goodreads, and others; all great mediums to creating a ‘platform’...
Now, how to get people to notice your masterpiece?
Book reviews are where many readers look for new books and new authors, and the importance of potential readers seeing what others thought of your work cannot be overstated.
Reviews are also the best feedback an author can get about their writing. They can be exceptionally valuable at pointing out what you did well and not so well and, in general, how your writing is viewed by people other than your friends and relatives. If you listen to what your readers tell you, your subsequent books can only get better.
In an age where social media and word of mouth play a central role in the success/failure of a story, having an upcoming book reviewed is a must.
Getting those first reviews, however, is work.
